This gripping film stars Jane Fonda and Vanessa Redgrave - winner of the 1977 Best Supporting Actress Oscar® for her stunning portrait of the title character. Born o great wealth, the fiercely independent Julia devotes her life to political causes, fighting fascism in the 1930s. While traveling in Europe, Lillian Hellman (Fonda), a dear friend to Julia, is approached by one of Julia's political acquaintances (Maximillian Schell) and is swept into a dangerous world, smuggling money across hostile borders. Julia marked the film debut of Meryl Streep and also earned Academy Awards® for Jason Robards as Best Supporting Actor, and for the Best Screenplay Adaptation.
