Based On A True Story

Based on a true story. It is the final days of World War II, and Luigi Manin (Luca Zingaretti) is one of many Italian prisoners of war being held on U.S. soil. His prison is the Hereford Internment Camp in Texas, a grim place commanded by Colonel Gartner (Roy Scheider).

After several attempts, Manin manages to escape the camp, but only briefly. A patrol force brings him back several days later, and much to his surprise, the camp has already been evacuated. Gartner is now obliged to hold Manin until another patrol force comes to collect him, but no one ever arrives. The phone lines are cut, and there are no vehicles to transport them out. Both men must now wrestle with their own beliefs as they struggle to survive the camp and each other.
