In the tradition of Elizabeth and Queen Margot comes Mad Love a sumptuous, epic tale of passion and power based on the scandalous true story of betrothed royalty and betrayed loyalty.

Shortly after Queen Isabella of Spain sends Columbus off in search of the New World, she sends her beautiful young daughter, Joan, away for a politically advantageous arranged marriage. When Joan meets her intended, the dashing and handsome Archduke Philip, the two fall passionately in love.

All is not to remain well for the newlyweds. As Joan births an abundance of heirs, Philip's attentions, and affections, wander. In response to Philip's philandering, Joan's behavior becomes increasingly erratic. Seizing the opportunity to become sole ruler, Philip and his advisers plot to have his wife declared insane and dethrone her.
