The rape of Rome in an orgy of slaughter!

Based on actual historical events and featuring a cast of thousands, The Barbarians brings the vicious savagery of ancient warfare to life, vividly depicting the rape and pillage of what was once the most powerful city in the western world.

1527. Amid the artistry and enlightenment of the Renaissance, the nobility of Rome is divided by a bitter rivalry between two powerful families- the Orsinis and the Colonnas. At the heart of the dispute are two lovers, who, despite their families' differences, plan to wed in secrecy. Fate, however, stands in their way, and the Eternal City comes under attack by an army of ruthless mercenaries sent by King Charles V of Spain. Using unimaginable brutality, the invaders seize control of the city and lay waste to all around them. Under these tragic and desperate circumstances, the citizens of Rome find the inspiration to join together and regain their freedom.
