They wanted to become heroes, until it meant betraying a friend.

Loosely based on actual reports of Japanese submarines patrolling the Pacific during WWII, I'll Remember April details events that transpire following the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

In the tradition of October Sky and Stand By Me, this action-filled drama follows the life of four ten-year old California boys, Pee Wee (Haley Joel Osment, The Sixth Sense), Duke (Trevor Morgan), Tyler (Richard Taylor Olson) and Willy (Yuki Tokuhiro) and their perilous journey to self-discovery.

Best of friends, the boys like to fantasize that they are Marines in search of the enemy.Known throughout the town for telling tall tales, the FBI soon show up and cut their mission short.Feeling hurt and dejected, the boys head to their clubhouse, where they are shocked to find a Japanese sailor washed up on the beach. The boys, desperately wanting to become heroes, take him prisoner as they determine his fate.

Duke, whose brother is fighting the Japanese overseas, keeps the capture a secret from his parents (Mark Harmon, Pam Dawber). But when Duke is dramatically rescued from drowning, the boys befriend their prisoner and eventually make a pact that will betray their own country.
