A brilliantly photographed epic of the Great War and its aftermath, Capitaine Conan is an unsettling meditation on war and the shaping of contemporary Europe, as envisioned by renowned filmmaker Bertrand Tavernier (The Clockmaker, 'Round Midnight, Sunday In The Country).

Philippe Torreton stars as a dedicated career soldier who eagerly serves the band of fity irregulars under his command, with an often open disregard for the methods of his superiors.A fearless combat leader and warrior, Conan lays down his arms and attempts to extricate his men from the dirty war upon the signing of the 1919 Armistice. But peace does not come easily for some, and Conan's troops carry on their killing for nine months after the war has ended and must face the terrible consequences.
